SYLVIA ZERBINI Liberty Play, Dancing horse, Grande Liberté
As a child, Sylvia quickly discovered her passion and love for horses.
Early on, she recognized horses are more magnificent, unadorned, without belts, buckles or sequins, and she compares their movements to dance steps. Her greatest pleasure lies in the grace of the horse and the elegance of his gallop, which motivated her to specialize in training at liberty. At 15 years old, she began training her first Arabian horses and, one year later, together with the animals she trained, Sylvia made her debut in the world of entertainment.
The life of an acrobat is one she knows full well! Sylvia grew up on tour with her parents; her mother performing on the trapeze and her father, training animals. At five years old, she was already horseback riding and by ten, she was up in the trapeze!
In 2004, Sylvia witnessed her first Cavalia performance. Instantly, she knew she wanted, and would, be a part of the show! Four years later, in the company of 10 horses, she arrived at Cavalia’s equestrian centre, where she diligently perfected her work at liberty. Now, in 2009, her dreams have become reality, as she steals the Cavalia stage in “Grande Liberté”, which she performs with her Arabian horses.
Sylvia’s relationship with her horses is based on a bond of confidence and mutual respect. “Gaining the confidence of an Arabian horse is challenging but, once you do, he will do everything in his power to please you. With so many horses around me, our communication depends on body language, but I also interact with them by name. That way, they know who I’m speaking to.”
